Civil Technician - Roads & Civil Infrastructure

First People Solutions is working with a well-established and highly respected consulting engineer that is seeking a Civil Technician to join their team in Edinburgh.

Our client is a large, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions on complex projects across the UK. Their extensive portfolio spans local and national infrastructure, covering disciplines including geo-environmental, transportation, structures, renewables, and water services.

The Role

In this position, you will be responsible for producing high-quality designs, drawings, models, and technical documentation for roads and drainage schemes across a diverse range of engaging projects. You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and project managers to successfully deliver projects from concept through to detailed design.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare conceptual and detailed designs for infrastructure, highway, and energy projects
Develop and maintain accurate 2D and 3D models and drawings
Produce drainage and ancillary designs in accordance with relevant standards
Support the development and mentoring of junior engineering staff within the team
Collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and graduates throughout project delivery

Requirements

HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
3-6 years of experience working within a design engineering environment
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, and other relevant software
Experience producing highway design drawings, including geometric design, drainage, and ancillary elements
Ability to deliver accurate and well-presented technical drawings
