About the Role

As Head of PE, you will lead a vibrant and committed team, overseeing the delivery of an engaging PE curriculum across KS3 to KS5, including GCSE and A-Level PE. You will take responsibility for departmental planning, curriculum development, assessment, and staff mentoring, while continuing to teach and model outstanding practice. A key part of the role involves coordinating an extensive extracurricular programme of competitive sports, clubs, and whole-school events.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Hold a degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related discipline

*

Possess QTS, PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification

*

Have proven experience teaching PE at KS3–KS5, including exam PE (GCSE and A-Level)

*

Demonstrate previous leadership experience or clear readiness for middle leadership

*

Be an excellent classroom practitioner and passionate advocate for school sport

*

Be committed to inclusivity, participation, and promoting a lifelong love of fitness

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this Head of PE position will be paid to scale (MPS/UPS) plus TLR, depending on experience. A direct contract with the school is offered, along with access to a wide range of staff benefits, including generous CPD funding and use of school facilities.
