Responsibilities:

Support Personalised Learning: Assist students with moderate to severe learning difficulties in accessing the curriculum, tailored to their individual educational and health care plans.
Provide Specialist Care: Deliver day-to-day healthcare support, including administering medication, assisting with feeding and toileting, and implementing therapeutic routines in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Enhance Wellbeing: Support students’ emotional and physical wellbeing throughout the school day, promoting independence, dignity, and confidence in a nurturing environment.
Facilitate Access to Specialist Facilities: Help students engage safely and effectively in activities within specialised areas such as the hydrotherapy pool, multi-sensory rooms, and therapy suites.
Collaborate with Staff Teams: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure a joined-up approach to student care and progress, both in and out of the classroom.
Encourage Inclusion: Promote a culture of respect, understanding, and inclusion by supporting students in a way that values their individuality and encourages active participation.
Support Enrichment Activities: Assist with off-site visits and on-site enrichment programmes, helping students to build life skills, confidence, and social development.
Contribute to a Safe Environment: Maintain high standards of safeguarding, ensuring that all interactions are in line with the school’s policies and always promote student safety.
Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with moderate to severe learning difficulties.
A compassionate and patient approach, with a strong desire to support students’ holistic development—emotionally, physically, and academically.
The ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff to support integrated learning and care.
A basic understanding of medical, physical, or personal care needs in a school or care environment (training provided).
Confidence in assisting with or learning to assist with therapeutic activities such as hydrotherapy, sensory integration, and physical support.
Excellent communication skills and a consistent, calm approach to behaviour and emotional regulation support.
Flexibility and resilience when working in a fast-paced, varied, and hands-on educational environment.
A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, Education, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply.
