Comms and Engagement Lead | Contract | Up to £575 per day | Inside IR35 | Hybrid – London, Bristol, York or Newcastle

Ceto Talent is recruiting for an experienced Comms and Engagement Lead to join a high-profile EU Delivery Programme within central government on an initial 6-month contract (extension TBC). The role is hybrid, requiring 2–3 days per week in one of the following offices: London, Bristol, York, or Newcastle. The successful candidate must be available to start by 9th March 2026.

Essential Requirements

* Proven experience designing and delivering strategic communication and engagement plans aligned to departmental or ministerial priorities.

* Significant experience advising senior stakeholders and translating complex policy or technical information into clear communications.

* Extensive experience providing editorial assurance across digital, internal, and traditional channels.

* Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams, setting priorities and supporting professional development.

* Strong track record building relationships across government, devolved administrations, and trade bodies.

* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex, data-heavy material for diverse audiences.

* Available to commence by 9th March 2026.

Key Responsibilities

As Comms and Engagement Lead, you will lead the development and delivery of communication and engagement strategies aligned with departmental and ministerial priorities. You will act as a trusted adviser to Directors and senior civil servants, translating complex policy and technical milestones into clear stakeholder communications. Day-to-day, you will review draft communications, provide editorial assurance, and coordinate cross-programme communications plans. You will line-manage a team, build relationships across government and external stakeholders, and use data and behavioural insights to continuously improve engagement activity.

Contract Details

Rate: Up to £575 per day

IR35: Inside IR35

Duration: 6 months (extension TBC)

Location: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in office (London, Bristol, York or Newcastle)
