The school provides specialist places for pupils with EHCPs, delivering a compassionate, structured, and therapeutic approach to learning. The Role
As a Teaching Assistant within the SEMH provision, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support for children with SEMH and associated needs
*
Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent, calming presence
*
Encourage emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence
*
Support the class teacher with tailored learning activities
*
Use de-escalation techniques and follow behaviour support plans
*
Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
*
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and external professionals
What We’re Looking For
*
Experience working with SEN, ideally SEMH, challenging behaviour, trauma-informed practice, or alternative provision
*
Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive in difficult situations
*
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
*
Passion for supporting children to overcome barriers and achieve their potential
*
A positive attitude, resilience, and a genuine desire to help young learners thrive
*
NCFE CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or similar) is desired but not essential
*
Must have a clean Enhanced DBS
*
Additional training such as Team Teach, MAPA, PBM, or Trauma-Informed Practice is highly beneficial
