Year 1 Teacher - Maternity Cover

Location: Peterborough
Start Date: June 2026
Contract: Maternity Cover (Fixed Term)
Salary: £150-£160 (dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school to recruit a Year 1 Teacher for a maternity cover position.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and committed teacher to join a school that values high-quality teaching, teamwork, and pupil wellbeing.

The Role

Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum
Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
Assess, monitor, and support pupil progress effectively
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL
Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child welfare

The Ideal Candidate

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
Has experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1
Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills
Is enthusiastic, caring, and committed to pupil development
Has a sound understanding of phonics and early reading strategies
