Overview

Our client, a well-established and fast-growing food and consumer products business, is seeking a Specification Technologist to join their Technical team at their Nuneaton site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-driven technical professional to play a key role in ensuring product specifications are accurate, compliant, and maintained to the highest industry standards. The position sits within a collaborative technical function and works closely with NPD, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

Create, review, and maintain raw material and finished product specifications across internal and customer systems.

Ensure all specifications comply with current UK/EU legislation, including allergen, nutritional, and labelling requirements.

*

Obtain and validate supplier technical documentation, including allergen declarations and compositional data.

*

Support product launches by verifying technical information prior to submission and approval.

*

Review and approve packaging artwork to ensure legal and technical accuracy.

*

Maintain and update specification databases following reformulations or supplier changes.

*

Conduct gap analysis and risk assessments related to specification data.

*

Provide technical documentation to support internal and external audits.

*

Monitor regulatory updates and implement necessary specification changes.

Candidate

*

Experience in a Specification Technologist or Technical role within food, supplements, or FMCG manufacturing.

*

Strong understanding of UK food labelling legislation and allergen management.

*

Experience using retailer specification portals or specification management systems.

*

Highly detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.

*

Comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

*

Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

*

Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related discipline (desirable but not essential depending on experience).
