Job Title: Cover Supervisor – SEND Schools
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £120 - £140 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Positions Available: Day-to-day, Part-time, Full-time, and Long-term

Please note: Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor is essential!

TeacherActive is currently working with Ofsted-rated Outstanding SEND schools across Birmingham, supporting both primary and secondary pupils. These schools are committed to creating inclusive, aspirational, and progressive learning environments, where every student’s journey is personalised and supported through their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). Lessons are delivered in small groups or 1:1 by experienced, dedicated staff.

We are seeking compassionate, adaptable, and proactive Cover Supervisors who have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of students who thrive on consistent support, patience, and encouragement.

The Role:

Classroom Management – Keep pupils engaged, on task, and following behaviour expectations.

Deliver Pre-Planned Lessons – Ensure tasks are completed in the absence of the teacher (no planning required).

Support Progress – Monitor student work and offer help as needed.

Safeguarding – Maintain a safe and supportive environment at all times.

Reporting – Provide feedback on behaviour and progress to school staff.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience as a Cover Supervisor (essential)

Experience or a strong interest in working with SEND pupils

A calm, patient, and supportive approach to learning

Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

Strong behaviour management skills and use of restorative practices
