Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Non-Verbal Child (KS1)
Location: Blackburn
Hours: 8:45am - 3:30pm
Contract: Until July, with potential to continue in September
Grade: Level 2
We're currently looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal child in Key Stage 1 at a welcoming primary school in Blackburn. This is a full-time position running until July, with a strong chance of continuing in September.
This role is ideal for someone who has previous experience working with non-verbal children, and who is calm, patient, and confident in using alternative communication strategies to support learning and development.
What you'll be doing:
Providing 1:1 support to a non-verbal pupil within the classroom
Assisting with daily routines, learning activities, and emotional support
Using visual aids, gestures, or communication systems (e.g., PECS, Makaton) to aid communication
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement the child's support plan
Helping to create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Monitoring and recording the child's progress and behaviour

Your CV should cover the last 10 years of employment, including explanations for any employment breaks. You must have the legal right to work in the UK and be willing to attend a registration interview.
