We are seeking a qualified solicitor with experience in Wills, Probate and Private Client matters to join a well-established, medium-sized city centre law firm with a strong reputation for high quality private client work.
The successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload including Wills, Probate, Estate Administration, Trusts and Power of Attorney. You will provide clear, practical advice to a wide range of clients, from local families to high-net-worth individuals while supporting the continued growth of the department.
This position offers hybrid working.
Responsibilities:
* Drafting and advising on Wills, Codicils, and Powers of Attorney (including LPAs).
* Administering estates — obtaining Grants of Probate/Letters of Administration, preparing IHT forms, and finalising estate accounts.
* Advising on inheritance tax and succession planning, including mitigation strategies.
* Managing trusts, including creation, administration, and winding up.
* Providing compassionate client service, often in sensitive or emotional circumstances.
* Liaising with third parties — accountants, financial advisors, HMRC, and banks.
* Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct and AML regulations.
* Contributing to business development, networking, and promoting the firm’s Private Client services.
* Supervising or supporting junior staff or paralegals where applicable.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with at least 2 years PQE in Wills & Probate / Private Client.
* Proven experience managing a varied private client caseload independently.
* Excellent technical knowledge of probate law, tax, and estate planning.
* Strong communication, drafting, and client care skills.
* Ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and empathy.
* Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office
