Do you want to join a dynamic expanding multi site retail business with sites around the UK

They have an outstanding opportunity for a Plant Buyer to manage and direct there customer offer. In this role you will be accountable for the plants category that sits within our Gardens Department. Working closely with our Gardens Buyer, suppliers and in-house departments you will drive the range and offering to ensure our plant offer stays at the forefront of the UK market.

Responsibilities

* You will have primary accountability for maximizing sales, margin & profitability in this fast moving category

* You will translate and execute category strategies, own target KPI’s and foster relationships with stakeholders

* You will conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer preference and competitor activities.

* You will use insights to make informed decisions on product selection and positioning

* You will have ultimate responsibility for the implementation of the product strategy and ensuring that the business meets with customer needs

* You will work with your cross-functional teams to ensure we deliver great product availability and quality

* You will ensure full adherence with all relevant statutory responsibilities related to the importation and sale of plants

Ideal Candidate

* Experienced retail/wholesale buyer, ideally within a fast-moving organisation with retail outlet stores.

* Demonstrable buying experience within plant categories, understand impact of wastage on the product.

* Strong commercial and import knowledge of the plant category legislation.

* Ability to analyse data with great attention to detail.

* Proactive, hardworking and reliable.

* Proven track record of successful supplier negotiation and contract management both UK & import.

* Have the ability to build relationships and influence both internal and external stakeholders.

* A true team player underpinned with great interpersonal skills
