Anderson Knight is delighted to be partnering with a well-established legal services firm to recruit a Legal Assistant to join their specialist Lending Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in Scottish conveyancing or secured lending who is looking to further develop their career within a professional, collaborative, and high-performing environment.
As a Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting secured lending transactions, with a particular focus on buy-to-let, portfolio, and limited company lending. You will assist with title examination, preparation of security documentation, and the progression of cases from instruction through to completion, ensuring lender requirements and regulatory standards are met throughout.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
Location: Glasgow City Centre (Office-based)
Salary: £25,000-£30,000
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with progressing secured lending transactions using a case management system.
• Review property titles and supporting documentation in line with lender instructions and the UK Finance Handbook (where applicable).
• Identify title or transactional issues and escalate to the supervising solicitor where required.
• Assist with drafting, reviewing, and issuing standard securities and related legal documentation.
• Liaise with borrower solicitors, lenders, and third parties to progress matters efficiently.
• Ensure all lender conditions and requirements are satisfied prior to settlement.
• Assist with completion, settlement, and registration procedures.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records at all stages of the transaction.
• Ensure compliance with Law Society of Scotland requirements, lender panel obligations, and internal policies.
• Provide general administrative and team support to assist with the smooth running of the Lending Services department.
Requirements:
• Previous experience in a legal support role, ideally within secured lending, conveyancing, or property law.
• Good understanding of Scottish property law and conveyancing procedures.
• Experience reviewing titles and working with standard securities and related documentation.
• Familiarity with the full lifecycle of refinance or secured lending transactions.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Confident written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work effectively under supervision while managing multiple transactions.
