The Role
We are working with a growing specialist who is looking to appoint a Mechanical Technician to support a key supermarket contract across the South West of England. This is a field-based role, primarily covering evening and night shifts, allowing access to live retail environments outside of trading hours.
You will be responsible for attending supermarket sites, carrying out mechanical and water-related servicing and maintenance works, with a particular focus on vacuum drainage (EVAC) systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer looking to broaden their skill set and move further into the water hygiene industry, with full training provided in specialist systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Servicing, maintaining, and inspecting vacuum drainage / EVAC systems
* Working on vacuum pumps and vacuum plant equipment
* Supporting humidification systems within supermarket environments
* Carrying out chemical cleaning where required
* General mechanical servicing, fault finding, and basic repairs
* Working safely in live retail sites during out-of-hours access
* Completing job reports and liaising with supervisors and clients on-site
* Adhering to health & safety procedures at all times
Ideal Background
We are open to a range of engineering backgrounds. Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
* Vacuum drainage / EVAC systems
* Mechanical maintenance or service engineering
* Refrigeration, plumbing, or building services
* Humidification systems
* Water hygiene, Legionella control, or chemical cleaning
Previous water hygiene or Legionella experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Requirements
* Experience as a Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Repair Engineer, or Mechanical Technician
* Willingness to work evenings and nights as required
* Full UK driving licence
* Good mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
* Strong awareness of health & safety
* Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
