We are seeking a dedicated, skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding specialist school in the Folkestone area that provides tailored education for pupils aged 3-19 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This is a large, well-established special school rated Outstanding and widely respected for its inclusive, developmental approach to SEN education. The school supports a diverse cohort with autism spectrum conditions, communication & interaction difficulties, sensory needs and other complex learning profiles. Pupils benefit from a structured, personalised curriculum and specialist facilities including sensory spaces and therapeutic learning environments.
About the role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Support learners with autism and communication needs to access the curriculum and school life
Help implement personalised learning plans in classrooms and intervention groups
Use specialised strategies to support communication, regulation and engagement
Work alongside teachers and therapists to adapt materials and environments
Foster independence, confidence and social understanding
Be a calm, consistent and trusted adult in learners' school experience
What we're looking for:
Experience supporting learners with autism or complex communication needs (in education, care, therapy, youth support or similar settings)
A reflective, patient and positive approach
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Commitment to inclusive, needs-led practice
Understanding of differentiation and behaviour for learningDesirable (but not essential):
SEN qualification or TA qualification
Experience with PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems
Training in SEMH, autism awareness or therapeutic approaches
Experience in structured learning environments
** £90 - £100 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only
