Control & Instrumentation Engineer / Gas Sector / £30k– £50k + bens / North West

We’re looking for a motivated and hands-on Junior C&I Engineer to join a highly regulated / top tier COMAH facility, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the site by taking charge of small maintenance projects. This is an opportunity for someone early in their career to gain a broader technical exposure while contributing to sites strategic plans.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll support a wide range of site activities across projects, operations, and maintenance, from working on cutting-edge control systems to supporting process safety compliance, you will learn a lot!

You will work alongside the lead C&I Engineer onsite who is looking for someone who is dependable, happy to throw themselves into projects and comes across well.

Your key responsibilities will include:

* Safety, Health & Environment – Carry out work safely, identify and report incidents, and help drive continuous safety improvements.

* Control & Instrumentation – Assist with C&I operations and modifications, taking charge of small projects and ensuring the site runs smoothly and in line with industry standards.

* Process Safety – Develop your understanding of IEC 61511 and Functional Safety, with the opportunity to work towards TÜV certification.

* Process Control Systems (PLC/DCS) – Gain broader knowledge of the PLC’s and DCS system, eventually taking ownership of projects related to upgrades.

* Procurement & Contractors – Help define scopes of work, support contractor management, and keep critical C&I spare parts organised.

* Continuous Improvement – Support the delivery of maintenance strategies and contribute to ongoing efficiency and reliability improvements. Management of change is a key motive for the client!

What We’re Looking For

* 1–4 years of relevant industry experience (graduates with strong placement experience also welcome)

* A proactive approach to problem-solving

* Clear communication and a collaborative mindset

* A strong sense of accountability and willingness to learn

* Passion for developing technical expertise in C&I engineering

* Someone who can hold a conversation in relation to C&I Engineering, Atex equipment and environments, COMAH regulations, SIS systems, SIL regulated equipment, Functional Safety – If you’re comfortable with only half of these, then please still apply.
