S&D Trade Recruitment is working with one of our long-term clients to recruit for an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Maintenance Engineer for a long-term contract role Temp to perm (12-month rolling contract, due for renewal 1st January 2026). This is an exciting opportunity to work on behalf of one of the UK's leading FMCG companies. Our client provides 24/7 mechanical maintenance support to a major food manufacturing facility on Wrexham Industrial Estate, and an opportunity has arisen to join their on-site team.
The role offers a competitive rate of up to £17.70 per hour, working Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week with a 30-minute lunch break, with overtime available at the weekends with a higher overtime pay rate.
Mechanical Fitter / Maintenance Engineer Duties:
* Carry out mechanical maintenance on site machinery and infrastructure.
* Perform reactive and planned maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
* Provide mechanical repairs and improvements to enhance production reliability.
* Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintenance requests.
* Maintain strict adherence to Health, Safety, Environmental, Food Safety, and Housekeeping standards.
Mechanical Fitter / Maintenance Engineer Requirements:
* Time-served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, or relevant degree).
* Minimum 3 years’ mechanical maintenance experience.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.
* Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multi-skilled engineering team.
* Welding experience is advantageous but not essential.
* Previous experience in FMCG or food production is a strong advantage but not a requirement.
