Position: Senior Structural Engineer (Progression to Associate)

Location: Derby

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 DOE + benefits

An established and growing structural engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their team, with a clear and supported pathway to Associate level. This role offers the opportunity to take technical and project leadership responsibility while developing the commercial, managerial and client-facing skills required for progression.

The successful candidate will work across a diverse portfolio of structural projects, contributing to design delivery, mentoring junior engineers and supporting the wider growth of the business.

Senior Structural Engineer Responsibilities

Lead the structural design and delivery of projects across a range of sectors
Undertake and oversee detailed structural analysis and design using steel, concrete, timber and masonry.
Prepare and review calculations, drawings, reports and specifications in line with British Standards and Eurocodes.
Be involved within surveys/ report writing
Act as a project lead, coordinating with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Graduate and Project Engineers.
Contribute to the development and improvement of internal design processes and quality standards.
Assist with bids, proposals and client relationship development as part of the Associate progression pathway.

Progression to Associate

This role is specifically designed for a Senior Engineer looking to step into an Associate position within the medium term.

Senior Structural Engineer Requirements

Degree-qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering.
Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or IStructE).
Strong experience in a UK structural engineering consultancy environment.
Proven ability to lead projects and manage technical delivery.
Competent using industry software (e.g. Tekla Tedds, Robot, ETABS, SCIA, MasterSeries or similar).
Excellent communication skills with a proactive, collaborative approach.
