Are you a Behaviour Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people who’ve been excluded from mainstream school?

Do you want to be part of a nurturing team that helps pupils rebuild their confidence and reintegrate into mainstream education?

We’re working with a dynamic Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Hackney that supports secondary students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD and challenging behaviour. They are seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support – both in class and through targeted interventions – to students preparing to reintegrate back into mainstream school settings.

Your Role Will Involve – Behaviour Teaching Assistant

* Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation

* Helping pupils access learning and build confidence in a structured, low-stimulation environment

* Implementing strategies to support re-engagement, focus and behaviour management

* Building strong relationships with students through trust, empathy and consistency

* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and external agencies to create personalised support plans

* Supporting pupils during transitions to mainstream schools, attending reviews and reintegration meetings

* Managing classroom behaviour and encouraging self-reflection and social skills development

We’re Looking For – Behaviour Teaching Assistant

* Someone with experience supporting secondary-aged students with SEMH and behavioural needs

* A calm, patient and proactive team player who can manage challenging situations confidently

* Experience in PRU, AP, youth work, or behaviour mentoring is highly desirable

* Someone who understands the barriers pupils face and how to use trauma-informed approaches

* A clear communicator who can build relationships with students, staff and families

* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)

This role would be ideal for:

* Youth Workers or Inclusion Staff

* Psychology, Criminology or Education graduates

* Experienced SEN TAs looking to specialise in behaviour and reintegration
