Job Title: Data Specialist

Location: Warwick / Remote

Contract Type: 6 months - possibility for extension

Overview

For a dynamic organisation focused on data-driven decision making, we are seeking a highly capable Data Specialist to join our team in a business-critical role. This position plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data that will directly inform future investment decisions worth billions of pounds and support regulatory submissions.

The role requires an experienced data professional who can hit the ground running, with exceptional Excel expertise and a strong understanding of data governance, accuracy, and regulatory implications. The successful candidate will work independently, and will be accountable for ensuring that all data collected and reported is complete, accurate, and defensible.

This role is responsible for manually extracting, validating, and managing data from approximately 200 individual projects, capturing information directly from project requirements and maintaining it within structured Excel trackers. The accuracy of this data is critical-any errors may compromise the integrity of the submission and call the wider dataset into question.

There is an immediate requirement to keep this data fully up to date as part of ongoing RRP processes, with a hard deadline for finalisation by the end of March.

Key Responsibilities

Manually extract, document, and maintain detailed project data from ~200 projects using structured Excel trackers
Ensure all data is accurate, consistent, and fully aligned with regulatory and RRP requirements
Actively engage with project teams to obtain missing, unclear, or complex data inputs
Measure, validate, and continuously assess data integrity and quality, proactively identifying and resolving issues
Develop and streamline Excel-based processes and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy
Prepare high-quality executive-level reports, dashboards, and presentations
Produce clear, defensible datasets suitable for regulatory scrutiny and external submission
Collaborate closely with stakeholders while operating independently and confidently
Understand and communicate the implications of data errors or inconsistencies on downstream decision-making

Essential Skills & Experience

Advanced Excel expertise (expert-level formulas, data validation, reconciliation, trackers, large datasets)
Strong experience with Power Query; limited Power BI exposure is acceptable, but Excel is the core requirement
Proven background in data accuracy, data integrity, and regulatory or high-risk reporting environments
Experience working in the utilities sector
Comfortable manually extracting and managing complex data from unstructured sources
Strong analytical mindset with the confidence to challenge data quality where required
Ability to work independently at pace with minimal guidance
Excellent communication skills, able to engage stakeholders and explain data clearly

Desirable

Previous involvement in submissions or regulatory reporting
Experience supporting investment planning, capital programmes, or large infrastructure portfolios
Background in executive-level reporting and stakeholder engagement

Personal Attributes

Highly detail-oriented with an uncompromising approach to accuracy
Proactive, resilient, and comfortable operating under pressure and tight deadlines
Strong cultural fit with a fast-moving, delivery-focused environment
Confident self-starter
