This is a permanent, full-time role with a start date of September 2025. You will be teaching Food and Nutrition across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, preparing students for their GCSE examinations.

About the Role: Teacher of Food and Nutrition

As a Teacher of Food and Nutrition, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging and high-quality lessons to students from Year 7 through to Year 11. You will foster creativity, practical skills, and a deep understanding of food science, nutrition, and healthy living. You'll have the chance to inspire the next generation to make informed dietary choices and develop essential life skills.

Responsibilities:

* Planning, preparing, and delivering outstanding Food and Nutrition lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE).

* Assessing, monitoring, recording, and reporting on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of assigned pupils.

* Creating a positive, stimulating, and safe learning environment, particularly within practical kitchen settings.

* Developing and implementing innovative teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

* Contributing to the development and enhancement of the Food and Nutrition curriculum.

* Managing and maintaining equipment and resources safely and effectively within the food technology classrooms and kitchens.

* Participating in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.

* Fostering strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, and actively engaging in the wider school community.

Requirements:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK. A relevant degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related subject.

* Proven experience teaching Food and Nutrition across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) in a UK secondary school.

* A strong understanding of the National Curriculum for Design and Technology (Food) and current pedagogical practices.

* Excellent classroom and practical lesson management skills, with a strong focus on health and safety.

* Passion for your subject and a genuine desire to inspire students to lead healthy lifestyles and develop practical cooking skills. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.

* Commitment to continuous professional development.

* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
