Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable experience in the education sector? Teaching Personnel is working with a supportive secondary school in Sunderland (SR2), known for its nurturing environment and commitment to developing staff.
We’re currently recruiting several Cover Supervisors to support the school during a busy exam period. There is also the potential for long-term opportunities, including a full-time position for the right candidate. A school contract may be offered based on performance and availability.
This role is ideal for graduates from any subject area who are enthusiastic about education and keen to gain experience working in a school setting. No previous school experience is required—shadow days, full inductions, and access to Teaching Personnel’s training courses can be provided.
Pay: £90–£110 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: June 2025
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Role Overview:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will help ensure the smooth running of lessons when teachers are absent. You'll supervise classes, keep pupils engaged with set work, and manage behaviour in line with school policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise students during lessons in the absence of the regular teacher
Keep students focused on their set work and encourage completion to a high standard
Manage classroom behaviour and resolve issues calmly and fairly
Report back to teaching staff on progress and any concerns from the lesson
Follow the school’s safeguarding, health, and safety procedures
Support students with additional needs where applicable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
