Specialist Learning Support - Nurture Role

Maidstone, Kent
Apply Now

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated LSA to provide targeted intervention support for students in a small secondary all boys SEMH school. This role is ideal for someone who understands the importance of strong relationships, emotional wellbeing and confidence-building alongside academic progress.

The school is a unique and amazing provision for pupils who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in the care system. The staff at the home and school work very closely together, to ensure these young people get every chance to succeed emotionally, socially and academically.

The provision is extremely small, with less than 10 pupils in the school at a time. The children are supported academically, socially and emotionally, making this an extremely nurturing role.

There are never more than 6 boys that the successful candidate would support in this rewarding and exciting role.

The Role:

* Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions in Maths, English and Science for KS3 and KS4 students

* Support students to close gaps in learning while developing self-esteem, resilience and independence

* Adapt resources and teaching approaches to meet a range of learning needs

* Create a calm, safe and encouraging environment where students feel supported and understood

* Work closely with subject teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to support individual learning plans

* Monitor progress and celebrate successes, however small

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

* Holds HLTA status or has significant relevant experience

* Strong TA experience, if not HLTA status

* Has experience working with secondary-aged students with SEN

* Is patient, empathetic and able to build positive, trusting relationships

* Has the confidence to support learning in English, Maths and Science

* Understands the challenges faced by young people with SEMH needs

* Is committed to inclusion, wellbeing and high aspirations for all learners

We Offer:

* A supportive and inclusive school environment

* Strong pastoral systems and collaborative working with SEN and teaching staff

* Opportunities for professional development and intervention strategies

* The chance to make a meaningful difference to students’ academic progress and personal growth
