Are you an experienced logistics or customs professional ready to step into a supervisory role? We're looking for a proactive Traffic & Customs Supervisor to support international shipping operations for a global manufacturing site in Desford.
The Role
You'll support a small shipping and customs team responsible for import/export logistics of products and parts across global markets. Reporting to the Import & Export Manager, you'll act as the key contact for resolving customs, freight, and compliance issues while driving efficiency and improvement across shipping operations.
What You'll Be Doing
Oversee customs and freight operations, ensuring compliance with HMRC and international regulations.
Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport providers.
Ensure timely customs clearance and accurate documentation.
Manage risks, validate invoices, and maintain shipping records.
Assist with process development and support new product introduction (NPI) logistics.
Supervise a team of 5 (mix of agency and permanent staff).
What We're Looking For
Background in customs, transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
3-5 years' relevant experience with import/export processes.
Familiarity with Incoterms, duty management, and freight documentation.
Strong problem-solving, organisation, and stakeholder communication skills.
Comfortable handling improvement projects and process optimisation.
Experience with customs systems (e.g. Ricardo), Power BI, or ERP systems is desirable.
Soft Skills
