1 day a weekday release to Basingstoke college

4 days onsite in Frimley

Hours on site will be 8am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am – 2pm Friday

Starting salary £16,000 per annum

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to take the first step in their engineering career specialising in maintenance/maintaining both mechanical and electrical manufacturing machinery. The 3-year course will lead you to achieve the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Standard Apprenticeship at Basingstoke College of Technology. Our client will work with the college to tailor your course pathway to ensure these skills will further aid your development within our Maintenance engineering team. Throughout your apprenticeship you will be given a clear programme of support to with regular check ins, coaching and mentoring.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance checks on all manufacturing equipment.

* Help diagnose and repair machinery breakdowns under the guidance of experienced engineers.

* Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve our existing manufacturing equipment and processes.

* Assist with the implementation of new production machinery.

* Help other members of the engineering teams with their projects and day to day challenges as and when required.

* Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations and ISO standards.

* Complete mandatory online and practical training as part of the apprenticeship.

Essential candidate background for Engineering Apprenticeship:

* A keen interest in engineering and mechanical systems

* A self-motivated and disciplined approach to both study and hands-on learning

* An inquisitive approach to learning new skills on the job

* A positive and resilient approach to overcoming challenges

* A desire to pursue a recognised engineering qualification

* Eagerness to grow, take on new responsibilities and adapt to changing tasks

* A strong team player who can also work confidently on their own

Desirable candidate background for Engineering Apprenticeship:

* Previous workshop, mechanical, or hands-on experience (even as a hobby)

* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science/Technology subjects

* Profit Share Scheme – paid 6 monthly (Mar & Sept). Whilst this is based on Company profit and is therefore not guaranteed, it is designed to pay approx. 3% of salary across a year.

* 24 days holiday (running Jan-Dec) plus bank holidays, increasing with service. 3-4 days are to be used for the December shut down.
