Electrical Design Engineer (HV Power Systems)
Hamilton
HV Distribution • Connections • Utilities • Rail
We’re recruiting an experienced HV Electrical Design Engineer to work across major power projects and connection schemes. This role covers the full design lifecycle — not just drawings — from feasibility and modelling through to construction, delivery and commissioning.
If you’re someone who can own complex power design and wants a role with autonomy and responsibility, this is the one worth looking at.
The Role
This is full-scope HV design, not CAD support.
You will:
* Design and specify HV distribution systems up to 33kV
* Model power networks (fault studies, load analysis, protection coordination)
* Produce technical documentation, drawings and engineering specs
* Ensure compliance with DNO/ICP/ISO and industry standards
* Represent engineering in client and contractor meetings
* Conduct site surveys and ensure installation aligns with design
* Manage project delivery including cost, procurement and quality
What You’ll Need
We’re looking for someone who can operate confidently in the HV space:
* HND/HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering
* 5+ years HV design experience
* Experience with power modelling software (ETAP / PowerFactory / Amtech etc.)
* Strong documentation and technical writing skills
* Understanding of HV networks, connections and utility design
* IET registration (or working towards it)
AutoCAD experience is useful, but this isn’t a CAD technician role — it’s a power systems engineer position
