Job Description
? The Job Mission
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take a leading role in the successful delivery of Hinkley Point C. Embedded within the client’s organisation, you will provide critical oversight across design activities, ensuring alignment with safety, regulatory, and strategic objectives. You will serve as a key interface between stakeholders and technical functions, supporting high-impact decision-making.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Lead technical assessment and response to design queries, non-conformances, and exemption requests
Ensure project alignment with UK safety and environmental regulations
Evaluate and challenge design decisions in line with project objectives
Coordinate and integrate support from external design and delivery teams
Drive resolution of outstanding technical and design-related issues
Mitigate risks across the mechanical scope by applying expert engineering judgment
Foster strong, solution-driven relationships with Responsible Designers and delivery stakeholders
Provide clear, consistent reporting to the Engineering Lead and wider project team
Qualifications
? Essential Skills
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/MEng)
Proven track record in mechanical design, installation, or commissioning
Expert knowledge of construction and installation standards (CDM, EN, ASME)
Demonstrated ability to lead independently and escalate critical issues✔️ Desired Skills
Experience operating in high-complexity, multidisciplinary project environments
Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination capabilities
Familiarity with welding processes and quality standards
Previous experience working in a site-based engineering role
