Financial Controller

Financial Controller / Senior Finance Manager - £Competitive depending on experience.

A global, award-winning, £200m turnover manufacturing and distribution company is now seeking a Financial Controller. Employing more than 600 people they serve major players in the retail, grocery and ecommerce sectors.

Working directly with the Group Finance Director, the role has responsibility for ensuring robust internal and external financial reporting and control. The Financial Controller will lead and develop a team that will deliver high quality finance data and business insights to the senior leadership team. Timely month end closing and production of strong, reliable and informative management accounts is the primary responsibility.

The role does have daily exposure to the senior leadership team, providing a platform to ensure reliable operational running, and also involvement in business strategy, growth, strategic projects, and cost saving initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting experience and be capable of business partnering across all business functions including stock control, factory production, logistics, purchasing and sales.

Key Accountabilities – Financial Controller:

* Monthly Financial reporting & management reporting pack to agreed deadlines – including 1 European subsidiary, and a mini consolidation. These templates for these already exist and are robust.

* Strong systems knowledge, SAP preferred but not essential. Good solid accounting skills. Posting, reviewing and ensuring accuracy of the Nominal Ledger and associated balance sheet reconciliations. (We post around 60 Journals for the month end closing). With a team of 3 plus support from 2 managers from AP & AR.

* Continuous forecasting & monitoring of company financial position and performance – profit, balance sheet and cash-flow.

* Annual Budgets & Forecast preparation.

* Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed and intercompany recharges are agreed

* Monthly internal Financial Reviews with the Managing Director and Department Heads, summarising budget trends, analysing deficiencies and reporting variances.

* Daily cash management and forecasting.

* Ad hoc financial analysis as required, including but not limited to analysis of sales, products and overheads

* Manage the external audit process, being the key point of contact for information provision and queries.

* VAT submissions in UK, as well as other VAT submissions for subsidiaries & tax compliance.

* Implement and monitor KPI’s for the finance division

* Business partner in profitability and cash generation by identifying, managing and implementing organisational improvements

* Lead team to continuously develop/automate and implement business process and system improvements

* Establish and maintain a strong internal audit process to ensure all financial controls are adhered to.

Assistance Review & Business Partnering, but NOT direct management of:

* Work closely with Managers for Accounts Receivable (incl. Credit Control) and Accounts Payable

* Assisting where appropriate in the efficient and effective functioning of the above areas. to meet management expectations

* Compliance requirements and integrity of all company’s data entries, including SAP, EPR, external regulatory reporting calculations, in conjunction with the respective managers.

Preferred Experience – Senior Finance Manager & Financial Controller:

* Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW, etc) with more than 2 years post-qualification experience

* Solid technical skills to ensure accurate Nominal Ledger, SAP systems data integrity and review, balance sheet reconciliations.

* Strong organisation and tracking skills. List issues, communicate, and help with solutions.

* Experience in the manufacturing sector desirable
