We are seeking a dedicated and proactive School Admissions Officer to join our welcoming team in Blackburn. This is a vital 1-year fixed-term contract position, playing a key role in the smooth and efficient running of our school's admissions process.
You will be the primary point of contact for prospective families, guiding them through every stage of their journey with our school. Your exceptional organisational skills and friendly approach will ensure a positive and seamless experience for new students and their families as they join our vibrant school community.
Key Responsibilities:
Admissions Management: Oversee and manage the entire admissions process from initial enquiry to student induction.
Enquiry Handling: Respond promptly and professionally to all admissions enquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing accurate and comprehensive information.
Application Processing: Efficiently process and track all applications, ensuring meticulous accuracy and adherence to admissions criteria, deadlines, and legal requirements.
Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive, confidential, and up-to-date admissions records and databases (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, or similar systems).
Events Coordination: Coordinate and assist with school tours, open days, and other admissions-related events, presenting our school in a positive and engaging manner.
Communication: Liaise effectively with prospective parents/guardians, Headteacher, SENCO, teaching staff, and external stakeholders regarding student placements and queries.
Correspondence: Prepare and distribute admissions correspondence, offer letters, and essential new starter information.
Student Transition: Assist with student transition and induction, ensuring a smooth and welcoming start for all new pupils.
Reporting: Produce admissions reports and data analysis as required by senior leadership.
General Administration: Provide general administrative support to the school office as needed, including managing mail, filing, and photocopying.
Safeguarding: Uphold the school's robust safeguarding policies and promote the well-being of all students.

Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven administrative experience in a busy office environment, ideally within a school or educational setting.
Exceptional customer service skills with a welcoming, empathetic, and professional demeanour.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people, including parents, students, and staff.
Strong organisational abilities and meticulous attention to detail, especially when handling sensitive and confidential information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with database management.
A proactive and flexible approach, capable of managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing demands.
A committed team player with a positive attitude.
A strong understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding in a school environment (an Enhanced DBS check will be required upon appointment).
Desirable (but not essential):
Previous experience specifically in a school admissions role.
Familiarity with school management information systems (e.g., SIMS, Arbor, iSAMS).
