Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced SEN Short Breaks Support Worker to join a short breaks service in Wakefield. This is a 3-6 month temporary contract working a mixture of shifts.

We are seeking three experienced, compassionate SEN Support Workers to join our Short Breaks Service for children and young people with SEND. This vital service provides care, support and a safe space for children with a range of complex needs.

What You’ll Do

Provide personal care, communication support and meaningful activities tailored to each young person

*

Support non-verbal children and young people, using alternative communication methods where needed

*

Ensure a safe, nurturing environment through positive behaviour management and high-quality care

*

Work as part of a skilled, supportive team delivering consistent routines and transitions

*

Complete all relevant records, logs and handovers with professionalism and care

Essential Requirements

*

Experience working with children/young people with SEND

*

Training in manual handling, behaviour management, and first aid (further training provided)

*

Proficient spoken and written English

*

Experience supporting non-verbal individuals

*

Flexible, empathetic and reliable
