A well-established regional build contractor is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Technical Manager to support the design and delivery of projects across its portfolio.

This role will focus primarily on RIBA Stage 4 and Stage 5, ensuring technical design information is coordinated, compliant, and buildable before and during construction. Working closely with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors, the Technical Manager will play a key role in bridging the gap between design and delivery.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of building regulations, technical compliance, and the practical nuances of construction, ensuring that designs translate effectively onto site.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the technical design process during RIBA Stages 4 & 5

*

Review drawings and design information to ensure buildability, compliance, and clarity

*

Liaise with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams

*

Ensure designs meet building regulations, planning conditions, and statutory requirements

*

Identify technical risks early and work with the team to develop practical solutions

*

Support project teams with technical queries and design coordination during construction

*

Monitor design progress and ensure information is issued in line with programme requirements

*

Assist with value engineering while maintaining quality and compliance

*

Support the business in maintaining high standards of technical delivery and regulatory compliance

About You

*

Previous experience in a Technical Manager, Design Manager, or similar role within construction

*

Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and construction standards

*

Experience managing or coordinating Stage 4 & 5 design information

*

Good understanding of buildability and how design translates to site delivery

*

Strong communication and coordination skills

*

Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and resolve technical challenges

Qualifications (Desirable)

*

Degree, HNC, or HND in Construction, Architecture, Engineering, or related field

*

Membership of a relevant professional body (CIAT, CIOB, RICS or similar) beneficial
