Compliance Manager (Fire Lead) – Worcestershire
We are currently working with a Council in Worcestershire who are looking for a dynamic and experienced Compliance Manager (Fire Lead) to join their Corporate and Maintained Schools estates team.
This is a temporary, full-time role working across a diverse and complex property portfolio—ranging from corporate HQs to school buildings—where you'll act as the Council’s competent person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
Location: Worcester / Hybrid
Contract: Permanent
Hourly Rate: £36 per hour Umbrella LTD / £29 PAYE
Hours: 35 per week
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage fire compliance across the entire WCC corporate and school portfolio.
Act as the Council’s “Responsible Person (Fire)” under the Fire Safety Order.
Oversee fire risk assessments, fire door inspections, and delivery of remedial works.
Ensure contractor and supply chain compliance, performance, and KPI delivery.
Investigate fire-related incidents and ensure lessons learned are captured.
Support the management of non-fire statutory compliance in maintained schools.
Prepare reports, contract briefs, and compliance strategies for internal stakeholders.
Deliver training and promote a positive fire safety culture across the estate.We’re Looking For:
Substantial experience in managing large-scale fire compliance or property contracts.
Up-to-date knowledge of fire safety legislation including RRFSO 2005.
Experience delivering contracts across a wide and varied estate (100+ sites).
Skilled in performance reporting, contractor oversight, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong project/programme management and excellent communication skills.
Confident working with both in-house teams and external consultants.
Able to travel across the county and attend meetings out of hours when required.Essential:
Diploma in Fire Safety or equivalent recognised qualification.
Level 6 qualification (or equivalent compensatory experience).
Experience managing statutory compliance and remedial programmes.
Ability to lead in a matrix environment with strong contract management focus.Desirable:
NEBOSH or IOSH accredited.
Understanding of NEC3/4 contracts and construction project delivery.
