A high-achieving and inclusive secondary school in Weston-super-Mare is seeking an experienced and passionate Science teacher to join as Second in Department, with additional pastoral responsibility. What You’ll Be Doing:
*
Supporting the Head of Science with departmental strategy, curriculum delivery and staff development
*
Leading on science assessment, planning or intervention for a year group or key stage
*
Taking pastoral responsibility for a designated year group or house system
*
Coordinating behaviour, wellbeing, and progress strategies for students under your care
*
Liaising with tutors, parents, and external agencies to support pupil development
*
Playing a key role in school life, from assemblies and enrichment to parental engagement
What We’re Looking For:
*
A qualified Science teacher with the ability to teach to at least GCSE level (specialism in Biology, Chemistry or Physics welcome)
*
Strong understanding of curriculum progression, data use and pedagogy in Science
*
Proven ability to build excellent relationships with students and staff
*
A passion for holistic education and a strong track record of pastoral involvement
*
Resilience, enthusiasm and a commitment to inclusive education
*
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
