Risk Manager – Project Controls
Salary: Circa £55,000–£65,000 per annum
Location: Any UK office – hybrid working
 
We are supporting a client in the defence sector with the recruitment of a Risk Manager – Project Controls. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple UK locations on high-profile projects within a collaborative and experienced project controls team.
 
Location and Working Pattern
This role is open to any UK office (Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, Sheffield, Teesside) with a hybrid working pattern, requiring a maximum of three days on site.
 
Role Overview
The Risk Manager will be responsible for implementing and maintaining risk management processes across projects and programmes.
 
The role involves maintaining risk registers, facilitating risk workshops, producing timely risk reports, challenging risk information for accuracy and robustness, and ensuring alignment with other project controls disciplines.
 
Key Responsibilities

Implement risk management processes and promote best practices within project teams
Guide project teams and support performance management decision-making
Produce risk reports to communicate project risk positions effectively
Align risk information with scheduling, cost control, and change control disciplines 
Requirements

Experience in managing risk in a project or programme environment in the defence sector
Understanding of project controls interactions with risk management
Familiarity with at least one risk standard (ISO31000, APM, Orange Book, IPA) desirable
Relevant qualification such as APM Risk Certificate Level 2 or MoR Practitioner
Familiarity with at least one risk tool (ARM, Predict! Risk Controller, Risk Hive, Xactium)
Willingness to travel to client sites as required
