EXPERIENCED FIRE CONSULTANT REQUIRED PREDOMINANTLY WORKING FROM HOME FOR A RAPIDLY EXPANDING COMPANY SPECIALISING IN HEALTH AND SAFETY SERVICES

TITLE: Fire Consultant - Fire risk assessment, safety and compliance

SALARY: £65-75k DOE
£4,200 Car Allowance

HOURS: Mon-Fri 9-5.30pm
Primarily based working from home, with travel mainly within the Midlands area

ROLE: Fire Consultant - Fire risk assessment, safety and compliance

You will be responsible for reviewing fire risk assessments, fire door inspections, and compartmentation survey reports, identifying discrepancies and specifying appropriate remedial actions. You will provide technical writing abilities to produce clear, accurate reports and specifications, alongside strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

You will be skilled in negotiation, problem-solving, and time management, with keen attention to detail for ensuring fire safety compliance. Experience auditing fire stopping and proficiency with project management software is required.

EXPERIENCE: Fire Consultant - Fire risk assessment, safety and compliance

You will have a strong understanding of passive fire protection principles, including fire doors, compartmentation, fire stopping, and the relevant building regulations. Experience interpreting fire door and compartmentation survey reports is essential, along with the ability to identify non-compliance and specify clear, accurate remedial works. You will have strong cost management skills, experience managing works with contractors and clients, and a solid understanding of construction contracts, CDM Regulations, and fire safety legislation to ensure compliance.

Previous experience with fire safety upgrades, knowledge of building structures and compartmentation, understanding of fire-rated products, and strong negotiation skills with contractors and suppliers highly desirable. A valid UK driver’s licence is required.

You will be a Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IFE, IFSM), Diploma in Fire Door Inspection (DIPFD), Fire Stopping Inspection Diploma (FSIDIP) or equivalent Level 3 qualification, understanding of fire risk assessment processes

Certifications or training in fire safety or passive fire protection, experience writing scopes and schedules of works, and auditing fire stopping installations beneficial to role.
