Residential Support Worker - Wandsworth - September 2025 Start
Pertemps Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist residential provision for deaf students at a deaf school in Wandsworth. The school is seeking a Residential Support Worker to join their dedicated care team from September 2025.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the educational, emotional, and social development of deaf children and young people in a residential setting. The successful candidate will work as part of a close-knit team to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for pupils during the school week.
Location: Wandsworth
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only (39 weeks including INSETs)
Hours: 38.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, including sleep-in duties)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
About the Role:
Promote the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual wellbeing of pupils within the residential setting
Assist students in developing independence and life skills through structured routines and activities
Support students with personal care, daily routines, behaviour, and communication
Plan and participate in after-school activities and recreational outings
Carry out sleep-in duties and be on-call during the night on a rota basis
Work collaboratively with the residential team, teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals
Monitor and record student progress and contribute to care plans and reports
Support the development of personalised strategies for students with diverse needs
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Have previous experience as a Residential Support Worker or similar role, ideally in a school or care setting
Have experience working with children or young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities
Demonstrate understanding of the needs of deaf learners and willingness to use/sign communication systems
Be willing to work flexibly, including evenings and sleep-ins
Be calm, compassionate, and confident in managing challenging behaviours when they arise
Hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 qualification in residential childcare or health and social care
Be committed to safeguarding, teamwork, and creating a positive, inclusive environment
