Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering

Your new role
Our client is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support their commercial team on a variety of civil engineering projects throughout Merseyside and the surrounding regions. Working closely with experienced Surveyors and Project Managers, you will help manage the commercial aspects of projects from inception to final account, ensuring value for money and supporting successful delivery.

Responsibilities will include:

Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation

Measuring and valuing work on-site, and preparing interim valuations and final accounts

Assisting with the procurement of subcontractors and materials

Supporting the negotiation and agreement of contract terms and variations

Maintaining records for audit purposes and preparing cost reports

Ensuring that all commercial procedures are followed in line with company standards

Liaising with site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication

Attending project meetings and supporting commercial reporting

What you will need to succeed:

Degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline

1-3 years' experience in a commercial or assistant QS role (ideally in civil engineering)

Familiarity with NEC or other relevant forms of contract

Strong numeracy and analytical skills

Good communication and negotiation skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial software

A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel locally
