I am currently representing Cheshire West and Chester Council are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3 - 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.
We are looking for Contextual Safeguarding Co-Ordinator at The Portal, CH65 0BE
This post holder will play a critical role in supporting the development and embedding of a contextual safeguarding approach across Cheshire West and Chester. Working alongside partners in the Local Authority, Police and Health, the post holder will raise awareness, develop and embed robust policy and procedures and seek assurance that practice is effective in keeping children and young people safe from contextual harms, and in particular, child exploitation
Key Accountabilities:
Support the development of the Contextual Safeguarding Strategy and practice guidance both locally and at a Pan Cheshire level and ensure that local processes operate in accordance with these.
Co-ordinate and, when necessary, provide administrative support (including minute taking) to a range of meetings linked to Contextual Safeguarding, such as the weekly Contextual Safeguarding Hub.
Co-ordinate a range of meetings to support partners to gather intelligence and share information e.g., mapping meetings, context meetings, etc.
Keep information up to date on the contextual safeguarding platform and child’s electronic files and contribute to embedding a robust performance dashboard in relation to Contextual Safeguarding so that good quality information can be reported on.
Support the provision of information to assist the Practice Manager in preparing a range of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports regarding Contextual Safeguarding.
Ensure there are robust plans in place for children and young people and monitor the effectiveness of these plans through established processes, including attendance at child level meetings and driving improvements in practice when necessary
Liaise with other local authorities who have children placed in Cheshire West where concerns about contextual safeguarding have been identified.
Raise awareness of Contextual Safeguarding across the County by working closely with the Safeguarding Children Partnership Training Officer and contributing to training and awareness raising sessions with different professional groups. Develop a network of Contextual Safeguarding Champions within organisations who will drive forward developments within single agencies.
Maintain and develop effective relationships between partner agencies at both operational and strategic levels. Holding each partner to account with an approach of high support and high challenge to drive quality of service delivery and improved outcomes for children.
Seek the views of children and young people to inform service provision and test the effectiveness of interventions.
Requirements :
Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant job related qualification (Essential)
Experience of working with children and families (Essential)
Experience of assessing risk in the context of abuse, neglect and safeguarding (Essential)
Experience of chairing meetings or panels (Essential)
Experience of minuting meetings (Essential)
Experience of using a range of IT applications including Excel, Word, Electronic Management Systems, Powerpoint and Outlook (Essential)
Experience of contributing to the development of policies and procedures as required (Essential)
Experience of effective multi- agency partnership working in relation to safeguarding (Desirable)
Experience of delivering training (Desirable)
Experience of reporting to senior, or multi agency boards (Desirable)
Experience of preparing a range of performance/ strategic reports and presenting these in a range of forums (Desirable)
Sound knowledge of the safeguarding systems (Essential)
Sound knowledge of contextual safeguarding (Essential)
Sound knowledge of legislation, practice, policy and procedures in relation to Child Sexual Exploitation, Criminal Exploitation, Modern Slavery and Trafficking, Domestic Abuse and Harmful Practices (Female Genital Mutilation, Force Marriage, Honour Based Abuse). (Essential)
