Excel Industrial is a leading provider of engineering solutions in the public transport sector. We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a dynamic team in Blantyre.

Your Role

In this leadership role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe running of our engineering workshop and depot infrastructure. With a strong focus on team management, compliance, and operational excellence, you’ll ensure that everything runs smoothly and within budget.

What you’ll be doing:

* Providing clear leadership and motivation to engineering staff

* Managing all workshop activity to maximise vehicle uptime and reliability

* Ensuring full compliance with safety standards, legislation, and internal policies

* Overseeing equipment maintenance and depot infrastructure

* Supporting staff development and upskilling initiatives

* Driving continuous improvement and cost efficiency through operational insight

What We’re Looking For

You’ll need a strong technical foundation, excellent leadership skills, and a practical understanding of workshop environments. We’re looking for someone who can thrive in a busy, hands-on management role with the vision to improve and innovate.

Requirements:

* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (e.g. City & Guilds)

* Strong knowledge of workshop operations and equipment (lifts, jacks, oil systems, tools, etc.)

* In-depth understanding of health, safety, and vehicle maintenance legislation

* IT skills, including MS Office and systems like SAP

* Recognised management or engineering qualification (or willingness to gain one)

* Full UK driving licence (PCV and forklift licences are advantageous or should be obtainable)
