Actio Recruitment is working on behalf of a respected client in the electronics sector to recruit a Test Engineer for a full-time, permanent position based in Wiltshire.

This is a hands-on, technical role ideal for someone with a background in electronics or electrical engineering who’s passionate about quality, testing, and technical problem-solving. You’ll play a key role in ensuring component integrity, reliability, and compliance for high-performance and often mission-critical applications.

Role Overview

As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and executing detailed test procedures on a range of electronic components. You will carry out functional, electrical, and physical testing to identify potential defects—including counterfeit detection—ensuring components meet both internal and industry quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement test plans, fixtures, and procedures for electronic components

* Perform a range of tests including electrical, functional, and physical testing

* Analyse and report test results in line with industry compliance requirements

* Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical issues

* Maintain and calibrate test equipment, working closely with the quality department

* Support continuous improvement initiatives within the testing process

Essential Skills & Experience

* Background in electronics or electrical engineering

* Experience with test equipment such as multimeters, microscopes, and power supplies

* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

* High attention to detail and excellent written communication skills

* Familiarity with ESD procedures and handling

* Knowledge of aerospace/defence standards (e.g. AS6081/AS6171) is advantageous

* Experience with LabVIEW is highly desirable; other software experience also considered

* FTIR and Raman Spectroscopy

* XRF Analysis

* Mechanical Decapsulation Tools

* Acoustic Coupling and Acid Bath Equipment

Training will be provided where required, making this an excellent opportunity for a junior-to-mid-level engineer looking to specialise in testing within a highly regulated environment.
