Test and Qualification Engineer

Role Overview

The overall responsibility of the Test and Qualification Engineer is to define and conduct the independent testing of new and updated software and hardware products, working as part of the Global R&D organisation on products targeted towards the Onshore, Offshore and Transportation markets.

Key Responsibilities

•      Produce test plans for software and hardware products

•      Design flexible test environments to suit test plans and department requirements

•      Automate tests using appropriate environment (scripting, user interfaces and test rigs)

•      Set up and conduct manual and automated testing on new or updated hardware and software

•      Conduct internal training courses on new products and new product features

The successful candidate will:

•      Be a team player, comfortable working in a close-knit team and building strong professional relationships

•      Be inquisitive to understand products and customer use cases

•      Be able to work independently, proactively making decisions, problem solving and driving issues to a conclusion

•      Have good communication skills (both written and verbal)

•      Organise and communicate on own work activities aligned with wider business objectives

•      Have strong technical skills and a desire to develop these

•      Be hands-on with using hardware and software and, ideally, be familiar with electronic test equipment

Knowledge & Experience Required

•      Product testing of embedded systems (software and hardware)

•      Proficiency in Python (or other languages) for scripting and developing automated tests

•      Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu)

•      Knowledge of networking

•      Knowledge of audio testing

•      Knowledge of Voice over IP solutions (SIP and Dante)

•      Knowledge of electronics

Education & Qualifications

•      Good degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or similar background

•      ISTBQ certification preferred (minimum basic level)
