A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Hackney is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, particularly those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language difficulties.
Key Responsibilities – SEN Teaching Assistant
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of special educational needs.
* Assist the class teacher in adapting resources and lesson content to meet individual learning needs.
* Help to promote inclusion within the classroom and support students in accessing the full curriculum.
* Support behaviour management strategies, using de-escalation and positive reinforcement techniques.
* Work closely with the SENCo and pastoral team to monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews.
* Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, and the wider school team.
Ideal Candidate Will Have – SEN Teaching Assistant
* Experience working with young people with SEN in a secondary school setting.
* A good understanding of ASD, SEMH, and other learning needs.
* The ability to adapt quickly, remain calm under pressure, and work as part of a team.
* A proactive and empathetic nature with a genuine passion for supporting student wellbeing and academic progress.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and SEND best practices.
* DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
