Business Development Manager

About the role

Our business is growing. Our client loyalty is high, and to continue to drive our double-digit growth, we need to acquire new clients. That’s the job.

Our Online service has over 400 subscribers worldwide, predominantly manufacturers. We also have a number of retailers and a range of service suppliers in our portfolio of accounts.

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in driving IGD’s commercial activity.

Most importantly, you will be a people person and have a background in developing new business.

You enjoy having a chat. And listening? That’s even more important.

The responsibilities

Reporting into the Head of Business Development, these include:

Customer Acquisition

You’ll be creating relationships with cold and warm leads and you will take ownership of the sales process, from first contact to closure.

The majority of new customers begin their engagement with IGD by subscribing to Retail Analysis, so it’s critical to understand this service and use it in the customer acquisition process.

You will be selling to UK and European prospects.

What you bring

You will have the confidence to talk with C-Suite and decision makers, in-person and virtually

*

You will be able to show evidence of hitting - and exceeding - sales targets and demonstrable skills in pipeline build

*

You should have a genuine interest in FMCG and retailers and experience in
a B2B role

The role requires being client-centric, with a friendly disposition, a genuine interest in others and you’ll have a strong sense of curiosity

*

Being self-motivated, you will think: “How can I….” and you’ll have a keenness to contribute

*

You will also have resilience and tenacity and a sense of urgency that helps you to understand both customers and internal needs

*

Ideally you will have experience of selling into European manufacturers/retailers and a second language is also desirable.

The location

The role will be based at our head office in Letchmore heath, near Watford, and remotely as necessary.

We are operating a hybrid approach to working with a mix of home and office-based working. We are based in a very accessible location within the M25, just 20 miles from central London.

There will be UK and potential international travel required for larger prospects.
