Job Description

The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing and collecting outstanding accounts receivable balances from customers. This role involves contacting customers, negotiating payment arrangements, resolving billing issues, and ensuring timely payments while maintaining positive customer relationships. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, persistent, and professional with strong communication and negotiation skills.

Collections Advisor – Key Responsibilities

* Contact customers via phone, email, and written correspondence to collect overdue payments

* Review customer accounts to identify delinquent balances and determine appropriate collection strategies

* Negotiate payment plans and settlements in accordance with company policies

* Research and resolve billing discrepancies and customer disputes

* Maintain accurate records of collection activities and customer communications

* Monitor aging reports and prioritize collection efforts based on risk and balance size

* Collaborate with internal departments (billing, customer service, sales) to resolve account issues

* Escalate accounts when necessary, including recommending accounts for legal action or third-party collections

* Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies

* Meet or exceed collection performance goals and deadlines

Collections Advisor – Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Previous experience in collections, accounts receivable, or customer service preferred

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Effective negotiation and problem-solving abilities

* Ability to remain professional and calm in difficult or sensitive situations

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting or ERP systems

* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
