Are you an experienced and proactive academic administrator with a passion for supporting student success and ensuring academic excellence? We are seeking a capable and collaborative Deputy Academic Registrar to join a vibrant and future-focused academic community in Oxford, on a five-month maternity cover contract.

This role sits at the heart of a small, friendly, and dynamic College Office team in one of the University of Oxford’s graduate colleges. Our college is known for its progressive ethos, international outlook, and strong commitment to human welfare and postgraduate education. Set within an inspiring and historic Oxford setting, this is a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to academic life and student wellbeing during a key stage of the academic cycle.

About the Role
Reporting to the Academic Registrar, the Deputy Academic Registrar is a pivotal figure in delivering high-quality academic support across the student lifecycle—from admissions and induction to progression, examinations, and graduation.
You will lead on student-facing processes, maintain the accuracy of key data systems (e.g. eVision), provide guidance to students and staff on academic matters, and support student welfare through liaison with internal and external services. As a manager, you’ll also supervise the day-to-day work of two College Office staff and deputise for the Academic Registrar as required.
You’ll work closely with the Senior Tutor, Fellows, administrative colleagues, and central university departments to ensure our students receive a professional, well-coordinated, and compassionate academic experience.

Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a confident, detail-oriented university administrator with:

Substantial experience in academic administration within higher education
Strong communication skills and a student-focused approach
High levels of accuracy and familiarity with systems such as eVision
Proven ability to manage data responsibly and sensitively
Capacity to handle confidential issues with professionalism and discretion
Experience managing or supervising staff (desirable)
Familiarity with Oxford or a collegiate university setting (desirable)
You’ll enjoy variety, responsibility, and being part of a close-knit team. The ideal candidate will be someone who can step in and make an immediate impact during a busy period in the academic calendar.

What We Offer

Collegial and inclusive working environment
Opportunity to play a key role in shaping the student experience
On-site free lunches when the kitchen is open
Some hybrid working possible after induction
30 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus bank holidays
USS pension scheme eligibility
On-site parking (non-contractual and subject to availability)
We warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and particularly encourage candidates from under-represented groups including LGBTQ+ and Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities.
