A progressive secondary school in Cheltenham is seeking a Head of Design and Technology to join their leadership team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape a forward-thinking D&T curriculum in a school that values practical, real-world learning.

The Role
As Head of Department, you’ll be responsible for leading the curriculum across Product Design, Textiles, Graphics, and Resistant Materials. You’ll ensure the smooth running of workshops, manage budgets and safety procedures, and support a committed team of teachers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Lead curriculum development at KS3 and KS4 (with potential for KS5)

*

Promote innovation in materials, CAD/CAM, and sustainable design

*

Maintain health and safety compliance across practical rooms

*

Organise design exhibitions and competitions

*

Mentor staff and contribute to middle leadership CPD

Ideal Candidate

*

QTS and a degree in a D&T-related field

*

Previous experience leading or coordinating a D&T subject

*

Confident in using 2D/3D design software, CNC, and laser cutting equipment

*

Enthusiastic about developing creativity, problem-solving, and technical knowledge
