A vibrant and inclusive primary school based in Hammersmith is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant to support non-verbal children with autism in their Reception class. This is a long-term role starting in September, offering the opportunity to be part of a supportive team committed to early intervention and inclusive education.
Role Details:
Position: Teaching Assistant - Reception (Autism Support)
Contract: Long-term, full-time (Monday to Friday)
Hours: 8:30am - 4:00pm
Start Date: September
Location: Hammersmith, West London
Responsibilities:
Provide tailored support to non-verbal children with autism within the classroom setting
Assist with communication using AAC tools, PECS, or other appropriate strategies
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP targets
Encourage social development, independence, and engagement in learning activities
Foster a nurturing and structured environment
Requirements:
Experience working with children with autism, ideally in an early years setting
Knowledge of communication strategies for non-verbal children is highly desirable
A calm, proactive, and empathetic approach
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families
