Salary: £26,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Overview

A fantastic opportunity for a Graduate CAD Technician to join a growing technical design team based in Darlington. This role is ideal for someone with a relevant qualification looking to begin a career in construction design. You'll gain hands-on experience producing technical drawings and working on live projects, with support and mentoring from experienced professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Create 2D CAD drawings to support project design, approvals, and installation
Interpret technical specifications, architectural drawings, and client requirements
Work collaboratively with other team members to produce accurate detailing
Assist with material scheduling and maintaining drawing records
Liaise with internal teams and external contacts to ensure timely delivery of information
Contribute to progress reporting and occasional site or design meetings

Candidate Profile

HNC/HND or degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Architectural Technology, Construction, Design Engineering, Civil Engineering)
Competent in AutoCAD (2D essential; 3D or Revit is a plus)
Good attention to detail, numeracy, and communication skills
Organised and capable of managing tasks to meet deadlines
Willing to learn, take feedback, and grow within a technical team

Desirable Experience

Internship or placement experience in a construction or design environment
Exposure to detailing for cladding, roofing, or building envelope systems
Basic understanding of UK building regulations
