Our client are based near Hull.
They provide bespoke solutions in pipework fabrication, installation and commissioning, structural steel fabrication, skid unit assembly, open tank fabrication, pressure vessel manufacture and engineering design predominantly to the Oil & Gas and refrigeration industries
The Role
As the workshop manager, you'll play a key part in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the delivery of a range of contracts nationwide.
The successful candidate will have a background within pipework & welding, be well versed in quality systems and traceability and be able to recognise and work to PESR / PED requirements. Experience of leading and managing a small in-house team would is essential.
You will provide leadership and accountability driving high standards and continuous improvement by planning scheduling leading by example and managing the day-to-day activities in line with agreed timescales within the specific contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
The role holder will be able to demonstrate that they can understand the drawings that have been issued, the codes of construction, and how to construct and test, you will be versed in industry norms and can drive outputs to meet those norms and deliver efficient high quality outputs.
In ensuring all activities are performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, drawings, codes and standards, which form part of the contract in the relevant job you will be able to assist the quality team in delivering quality dossiers to the client.
Ensure that the conduct of all personnel under your control is safe, professional and conscientious, in addition to ensuring work reflects outputs and timesheets by maximising the working day ensuring staff complete their contracted hours of work daily.
Lead by example in demonstrating what good look like, supporting the development of the apprentices and workforce alike.
Supervise work that is in progress, inspecting work, reporting problems and preventing accidents occurring by enforcing QP safety standards.
Personal Specification:
Able to demonstrate a track record in managing staff that in line with industry norms, safely and to a high quality to meet agreed deadlines.
Hold either an associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or are time served in a same or similar capacity within the industry.
Minimum 3 years’ related experience within a supervisory role ideally within the Oil & Gas industry.
Proven experience in assisting in or performing interpretation of engineering drawings, work orders, specifications and manufacturer’s technical data materials. An ability to isometrical draw would be an advantage.
Sound working knowledge in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Demonstrate a high level of initiative, with drive to continuously improve the operation.
Clean driving licence.
