We are recruiting a Male Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide 1:1 support for a male student in a well-established SEN secondary school in Greenwich. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in a young person's life by offering structure, support, and positive mentorship.
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with a male student who has experienced gang culture and requires focused behavioural and emotional support. You will play a critical role in helping him re-engage with education and navigate social challenges through trust, consistency, and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support tailored to the student's academic and emotional needs
Use de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviour
Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting positive choices
Work collaboratively with school staff, SENCOs, and external agencies
Implement and monitor behaviour management plans
Support the student in building resilience, confidence, and life skills
Who We're Looking For:
A male mentor or youth support worker with strong interpersonal skills
Experience in PRUs, alternative provisions, youth work, or gang intervention roles
Excellent behaviour management and the ability to remain calm under pressure
A genuine passion for working with vulnerable or at-risk young people
The ability to build trust and form strong relationships with disengaged learners
Resilience, patience, and a trauma-informed approach
