The Role
This is a key finance role responsible for managing the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial administration of the organisation.
Accurate financial management is critical in the social care sector to ensure funding, resources, and operational budgets are managed responsibly so services can continue to support those who rely on them.
The Bookkeeper will oversee the core accounting processes and work closely with management and external accountants to ensure the organisation maintains strong financial governance and transparency.
Key Responsibilities
* Processing supplier invoices and managing purchase ledger
* Raising sales invoices and monitoring debtor balances
* Managing bank reconciliations and cashbook records
* Maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns
* Supporting payroll administration where required
* Preparing month-end financial information for external accountants
* Assisting with financial reporting and budgeting processes
* Supporting compliance and financial governance within the organisation
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys managing the day-to-day financial operations of a business.
You will likely have experience in a Bookkeeper, Assistant Accountant, or Finance Officer role and be confident taking ownership of transactional finance processes.
An interest in working within an organisation that contributes positively to local communities would be advantageous.
Skills & Experience
* Previous bookkeeping or transactional finance experience
* Strong knowledge of purchase ledger and sales ledger processes
* Experience preparing bank reconciliations and VAT returns
* Ability to prepare month-end information for accountants
* Strong organisational and attention-to-detail skills
* Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
* AAT qualification (or working towards) beneficial but not essential
* Working competency in Xero or Quickbooks is essential
